International (Working) Women’s Day
Annually on March 8, IEU members join fellow unions and organisations advocating for women, to March through the city marking International Working Women’s Day.
The march is held to acknowledge that although we have achieved some great wins with regards to furthering equality for women, there is still much more to be achieved.

Anna Stewart Memorial Project
The Anna Stewart Memorial Project (ASMP) is a union training program run annually by SA Unions.
It brings together women, non-binary and gender diverse members from a range of unions in a safe, supportive and energising training environment.
The program presents a unique opportunity for IEU women interested in building their skills, union knowledge and networks to enable them to play a more active role in our union whether that be at your worksite, sector or broader union level.
The program is open to all IEU women, non-binary and gender diverse members.
Testimonials from past IEU participants:
“The people I had the privilege of meeting through the ASMP are each inspiring in their own way. I would highly recommend the Anna Stewart Memorial Program to anyone who is interested in advocacy and activism.”
“What was most important to me within the whole experience of the Anna Stewart Memorial Project was the sense of camaraderie we found as we shared our own experiences of union to make the lives of others better through collective action.”
“I would thoroughly recommend the project to others who wish to develop their leadership skills personally and/or within the union movement. It’s definitely a journey of self discovery and one that challenges you on many different levels.”
ASMP has already concluded for 2024. Watch this space for details about 2025 program

The IEUA Women’s and Equity Committee seeks to actively respond to the needs of members and Branches and proactively engage in the broader women and gender equity issues which affect our members across their working lives.
