2025 – our year in review

Your Union is growing and gets outcomes

Last year we had net growth in fee paying members. When other unions are finding declining membership, we are bucking that trend. As always, our staff are here when you need them and we have enhanced our team with experienced organisers and industrial staff. We have had yet another record-breaking year as the figures above can attest to.

Our strength is in you.

These outcomes are worth sharing and a good reason to highlight why you are an IEU member.

Reps are the key to our Union growth

As part of our key strategic goals and objectives we modified the way that Organisers work with sites and reps. Key to that was to develop reps who were empowered to recruit and campaign. We trained a record 70 reps over 7 training dates in 2025. In 2026 we plan to expand that training so that rep’s skills can be enhanced in areas of member support, enterprise bargaining and Workplace Health and Safety.

Changes to your membership experience

As part of our new database, during 2025 we implemented easier, one click access to Union Shopper discounts – login, shop and pay! Recent changes to how they implement gift cards mean that they can be used and delivered more seamlessly than before.

Similarly access to our Online Learning Hub (in partnership with Teachers Learning Network) seamlessly integrates within our member login portal – click and access the sessions. During

2026 we will have relevant IEU Fact sheets and communications uploaded for members and Reps to access.

Pay and conditions

During 2025 we completed 13 Enterprise Agreements Negotiations and approval is imminent for another two. 13 other negotiations have continued into 2026 — including the Catholic Agreement.

State legislative changes

New state-legislated changes allow us to better represent you.

One key example is the changes to the Education and Children’s Services Act to strengthen the ability for Designated Persons (site leaders – ie. Principals, Deputies and ELC Directors) to issue a barring notice to someone who behaves offensively, abusively, trespasses or threatens any offence, on any premises, where staff and students are located (including online/digital devices).

As you can see, our union is strong and getting stronger. Let’s keep our collective voice growing.
