An Invitation to IEU members – addressing workload intensification using the AITSL Fact Sheet

Special Online IEU Briefing: Wednesday, 29 May
The Federal Office of the IEU has recently engaged with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) to develop a Fact Sheet that addresses duplicative and excessive workloads related to the annual goal-setting and professional learning process for teachers. Unnecessary practices and superfluous documentation related to this process have arisen in many schools and dioceses, resulting from a misinterpretation of AITSL’s Australian Teacher Performance and Development Framework (the ATPDF or P&D Framework)
The AITSL ATPDF Fact Sheet is entirely consistent with the NCCD Evidence Fact Sheet, developed in a collaboration between the IEU and the federal Department of Education in 2021 and 2022. It forms part of a suite of resources that assist members in addressing specific aspects of unnecessary practice and documentation. Although the IEU is also engaged in the process of addressing the big-picture elements of workload, the value of the Fact Sheets is that they allow immediate removal of processes that are duplicative and excessive, backed up by official advice from the relevant education authority.
The Federal Office of the IEU is inviting members to an online briefing session at 4.00pm AEST (3:30pm Adelaide time) on Wednesday 29 May, with a repeated session that afternoon at 6:00pm AEST (5:30pm Adelaide time). The presentation will be for approximately 30 minutes, with as much time as necessary for questions.
Numbers are limited, so please RSVP to ieu@ieu.au by COB on Tuesday 28 May, indicating which of the two sessions you wish to join, so that you can be enrolled in your first choice. You will subsequently receive a meeting link prior to the day.
