IEU Women – we are seeking your insights

Soon, all women IEU(SA) members will be receiving a link to a short survey via email.

Women make up over 70% of our membership and education remains a highly feminised industry.

Despite this, if you are working in education your gender still has a huge impact not only on your income over your working life (and retirement) but also access to leadership positions.

Access to flexible working conditions when needed still appears to be out of reach for many women in some non-government schools and preschools.

A safe workplace for all genders — something which we thought decades ago could be taken as a given — seems to be slipping out of reach.

As a union we want to change the balance.

We want our members to feel safe, respected and valued in their workplaces and we seek your input into how that might look and what is important to you in your workplace today.

We want and need you to lead and be a part of that change.

We seek to know how we can better enable women’s voices to be heard in our union, whether that be in your school Sub-Branch, in enterprise bargaining, in what information and resources you seek, or in the direction of our union. We want to know what works for you when it comes to being involved in your union.

The survey will be open for an extended time to enable as many of you to have the opportunity to engage in the process as possible, and YES, we will be sending you reminders!!

Participants will go into a draw for a range of gift vouchers (think Christmas savings and summer break fun).

So, keep an eye out for the link in your inbox from Week 5.
