IEU(SA) attends the ACTU ‘Making History’ Organising Conference
650+ union staff from unions across Australia attended the ACTU ‘Making History’ Conference at the Brisbane Convention and Entertainment Centre 20-21 June.
The conference focused on building the skills and capacity that we need to leverage the new IR Laws to grow our movement and to win stronger, safer and more just workplaces for Australian workers.
IEU staff engaged in professional learning through workshops and plenary sessions covering: Organising and campaigning; Member engagement and administration; Communications; Industrial services; and Leadership.
This professional learning with other unions enabled all attendees to share their knowledge of state-based issues and solutions through workshops, and compare actions/technology and improvements that are proving to bring benefits to members and grow union membership.

In addition to professional learning, keynote speakers and panels discussed the ‘Unions for Yes’ campaign supporting ‘The Voice to Parliament’ referendum.
Unions exist to create better workplaces, and better, fairer communities for all. That’s why across the country, workers are coming together to work towards Yes!
