NGS Super – Income Protection Insurance

Did you know that if you were to become sick or injured and were unable to work, you may stop receiving an income? Income Protection (IP) is a smart way to ensure you will have financial support if you had to stop working due to illness or injury, enabling you to focus on your recovery and health.

Do you need Income Protection Insurance? No one likes to think there might come a time when they become unwell or are injured. But if the worst happens, how would you look after your regular financial commitments and your loved ones? Having Income Protection insurance cover can help ensure you are prepared should you find yourself in a situation where you can’t work.

Sharn’s story

In 2019, 44-year-old teacher and NGS member, Sharn, was told that she had aggressive breast cancer. Receiving the news was a moment that turned her and her family’s world upside down. With limited sick and long service leave available, there was immediate concern about what would happen when that ran out.

“I never thought it would happen to me. But it was happening. In all the stress, it was a relief to know that I would be covered with income protection insurance that is part of my superannuation package,’ said Sharn.
