Renewal of Teacher Registration: Beat the rush – renew ahead.

With a significant number of teachers due to renew their registration in 2026, TRBSA are opening the application window early, giving you the opportunity to get organised, stay ahead, and avoid the end-of-year rush.
Your 2026 renewal application will now be available via the Teacher Portal from 3 August 2026 through to 31 December 2026: https://online.trb.sa.edu.au/default.aspx
Applying early puts you in control and ensures a smoother, stress-free renewal process.
To prepare and complete your application, you’ll need:
- 1 commencement document (e.g. Australian Birth Certificate or Passport)
- 1 primary document (e.g. Australian Driver’s Licence)
- 1 secondary document (e.g. Medicare card)
You’ll also need to upload one certified photographic identity document (such as a Passport or Driver’s Licence). Certification must be completed by an authorised witness, including Justice of the Peace, Police Officer, Pharmacist, Medical Practitioner, Nurse or Midwife, Teacher (full‑time, employed for at least five years), Bank Officer, Minister of Religion, Local Government Councillor, Chiropractor, Optometrist, and Veterinary Surgeon.
Make sure you also have:
- Your completed professional learning requirements
- A current, valid South Australian Working with Children Check
- An Overseas Criminal History Record Check (OCHRC) if required
- Your completed teaching service requirements
Why apply early?
By submitting your application ahead of time, you’ll be:
- Ready to apply for teaching roles with your updated registration certificate
- Fully work-ready for positions starting in Term 1, 2027
- Avoiding potential delays during the busy December period
Applications submitted in December may experience longer processing times, and there is no guarantee your registration certificate will be ready by 1 February 2027, so acting early is the best way to stay ahead. More importantly, renewing early won’t change or shorten your current registration period.
