SACE Merit Award Ceremony

More than 1000 year 12 students who received exceptional results in 2021 were finally acknowledged and given their ‘right of passage’ to a SACE Merit Ceremony at Government House on Friday 19 May after the intervention of the newly elected state government.

Education Minister Blair Boyer said: “It is a rite of passage and they (students) only get one chance at it to get that photo on the lawn of Government House, or they lose that forever.”

IEU(SA) Secretary Glen Seidel attended the ceremony, hosted by the Governor of SA, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC.

The Governor; the Premier – the Honourable Peter Malinauskas; the Minister for Education, Training & Skills – the Honourable Blair Boyer; and the interim SACE CEO Michaela Bensley, spoke and presented awards.

The student response was provided by Maddy Moss from Walford Anglican School for Girls.

Glen reported that it was a very positive experience to attend.
