Wear It Purple Day – IEU solidarity

On Friday 29 August the IEU stood in solidarity both virtually, across social media, and physically at the National Officers Forum in Coogee Beach, NSW.
Showing solidarity helps celebrate and support young people in our school communities who are LGBTQIA+.
We know that when students feel safe, respected, and valued, they can learn and thrive. For many educators, this means creating classrooms where every student knows they belong.
In some schools, Wear It Purple Day may not be officially acknowledged. Yet, countless teachers and support staff work tirelessly to ensure their students feel seen and supported.
On behalf of IEU(SA), we thank our members for the care and dignity you bring to this work — often in ways that may never be visible but make all the difference.
To every educator who wore purple on Friday 29 August, or who simply takes a moment to affirm a student’s identity: you are changing lives.
