Catholic Enterprise Agreement update

The New Year brings a renewed focus on the upcoming Catholic Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiations.

Reps packs have been sent to all IEU(SA) Catholic Reps and these should have been received by Week Zero.

There are three key tasks that each Rep need to complete urgently:

  1. Welcome new staff and invite them to join the IEU because often people don’t join the union simply because they haven’t been asked.
  2. Check and update the new membership list members change school, their role or fraction and it is important that we keep in contact with members.
  3. Hold a Sub-Branch Meeting sometime between Week Zero and Week 2.

In order to achieve these three tasks reps were provided a number of resources including:

  • our campaign flyers (highlighting that SA Catholic school employees are some of the hardest working but lowest paid in Australia),
  • meeting agenda,
  • information sheets, and
  • member joining forms.

If your IEU rep has not yet called a Sub-Branch Meeting, we suggest you check in with them and ask when that will be held.

If your school doesn’t have an IEU Rep consider taking on the role, either individually or with a colleague. (You can read more about the role of the Rep here – https://ieusa.org.au/reps)

Or you contact your IEU  Organiser (84100122 or enquiries@ieusa.org.au) and they can help organiser a meeting; where the first order of business can be to call for Rep nominations in your workplace.

Now is the crunch time.

It is only through acting collectively and getting ourselves organised that we will we be able to mirror the gains achieved in Victorian and New South Wales Catholic schools.
