Do you know what your illness and injury insurance coverage is?

We hope you never need it but if you do….

Recently we hosted an information session at the IEU (SA) office with representatives from NGS and TAL, Australia’s leading life insurance specialist.

TAL in partnership with NGS are specialists administering life insurance, income protection insurance and Total and Permanent disability claims.

The purpose of the session was to educate our staff on how to better support members who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to work permanently or for a period and require assistance.

Often people think life insurance is about payments to families when a loved one passes away. This is not the case, 60% of the total number of claims paid are to help people continue living their lives while recovering from an illness or injury.

According to TAL the 5 most common reasons for making a claim are:

  • Cancer
  • Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Diseases
  • Injuries and fractures
  • Mental Health related Issues
  • Diseases of the Circulatory System

NGS and TAL are here to help you and your family keep living the life you planned, should the unplanned happen.

NGS members can choose to lodge a claim one of three ways

  • Tele-claim (over the phone)
  • Online (via a member portal)
  • Paper (mail or email form)

Our key takings from the session is that there is considerable confusion about the insurance component of superannuation.  You can find your cover level on your NGS statement or contact NGS with any queries on 8410 2400.

If you do need to make a claim or you would like make an inquiry about the benefits you are entitled to, contact TAL on 1300 133 177. Their friendly staff will explain the assessment process and lodgement options available.

We hope you never need these services but if you do, there is advice and assistance available to you.
